Thank you to our Custodial Staff!

Our Swenke custodial staff always does an incredible job, but this year, they are going the extra mile to try and keep things as safe and clean as possible. We appreciate the efforts of the entire team. It takes dedication, attention to detail and a great deal of care - all qualities displayed by these wonderful ladies.

Sincere thanks to Olga Alvarado, Anabel Cavazos, Salomon Hernandez, Norma Garcia and Jessica Mata!

Holiday Gift Drive

Swenke is continuing our tradition of providing gifts for less fortunate students at Lieder Elementary (another school in our district) for the holiday season. Each homeroom is collecting cash donations for one child from this school.

If your family chooses to participate in the gift-giving process for this family, please do the following:

  • Discuss with your child the donation process and how this donation will help someone less fortunate during this holiday season.
  • Send in any amount (cash only) that is comfortable for your family to give in a sealed envelope, addressed to your child’s homeroom teacher.
  • All donations are due by December 4.

Once donations are received, a minimum of four gifts will be purchased for the child each homeroom is assisting:

  • Something s/he wants
  • Something s/he needs
  • Something to wear
  • Something to read! ðŸ˜Š

These gifts will then be delivered to Lieder Elementary School. Each year, the families of Lieder have been extremely touched by the generosity of the families at Swenke and have expressed much gratitude for their children being able to experience the holiday season in a way they would not otherwise.

Each homeroom class is doing this on a voluntary basis, so please do not feel any obligation. If you do choose to participate, we sincerely appreciate it and thank you in advance.

With the sudden end to our school year in Spring, we were unable to complete our annual art fundraiser with the Original Works company that the kids worked so hard to create artwork for. Many of you have reached out to me asking if there is any way to still order items with your student’s artwork on it from last year. I am pleased to say that Original Works has come up with a solution for you if you don’t want to miss out on those memories!

You can complete the order from home. The artwork will be sent home with your student on November 9. Follow the instructions provided on how to submit your artwork and order directly through Original Works. Once you have ordered your items, they will be shipped directly to your home. If you would like these items delivered to you in time for the holidays, please place your order by November 30.

Original Works will contribute a portion of your sale to the Swenke art room. Just make sure you type in the school code: SWENK at purchase time! You will still be getting back your student’s artwork to keep, even if you do not place an order.

We will be doing our normal Spring online art fundraiser with the art the student’s produce later this year! Those items will be sent to the school as usual and online ordering instructions will be sent home at that time.

Thank you for supporting your students and their love for making art!

Crystal Smith, Swenke Art Teacher

Connect Using Remind

Remind is a private mobile messaging platform that aims to help teachers, parents, students and administrators in K–12 schools communicate with everyone at once. Messages are sent in real time to an entire grade, class, small group or a single person.

Get the Remind app here and look for your grade code/s to join your group. You can enable notifications directly from your settings within the app. If you have children in different grades, you can join multiple grade groups.

Did you know that Snow Leopards are endangered? There are only 4,000-6,500 left in the wild. To learn more, visit the World Wildlife Fund - they have a great deal of information about Snow Leopards, their habitat, their threats, their range, interesting news and much more. You can even adopt a Snow Leopard!
