Parent Reader Coordinator: Set up and facilitate Parent Reader volunteers for the year. Communicate volunteer lists to front desk and teachers.

Parent Reader Volunteer: Swenke PTO helps facilitate the Parent Reader program (formerly “Friday Reader”) by organizing parent readers for K-3 classroom(s). If you are interested in being a parent reader, you must be registered and have your information updated on Swenke’s PTO website to sign up for a reader slot. Parent readers begin reading to classrooms at the beginning of the school year. There are limited opportunities to read to your student’s class(es) so please sign up ONCE.

TIME COMMITMENT: Approximately 30 minutes. 

Take a peek into your child's classroom and sign up to read to their class IN PERSON!   Please arrive 10 minutes early to select books from the library, as books from home are no longer allowed.  Please select enough books to fill 20 minutes.  You will be contacted at the beginning of the week you are signed up to read by the Parent Reader Coordinator.   

How many times can I sign up?  Please sign up for one slot per person.  Once everyone has the opportunity to sign up, we will circle back to fill any remaining spots throughout the year.  This allows as many families as possible a chance to volunteer to read.

What if I need to cancel?  Please uncheck your name from the signup so it shows as available and another parent can sign up.  Also, email reader@swenkepto.org ASAP so we can find a replacement.
